Gennue Lab Launch

Monica, our Modern Minds Clinical Nutritionist, joined the Gennue team to celebrate their brand launch.

Gennue's mission is to make holistic wellness accessible and transform it into a lifestyle filled with genuine purpose. During the event, Monica led a workshop designed to empower attendees to embrace holistic wellness in the modern world by exploring the critical role of gut health in overall well-being and mental wellness. Participants gained valuable insights into the gut’s impact on digestion, immune system support, metabolism, and its connection to mental health through the gut-brain axis. The session also highlighted how a balanced gut microbiome, supported by a nutrient-rich diet, can transform health.

Attendees left with knowledge about their gut health, mental health, and the connection between the two, emphasising the importance of caring for their gut as it significantly impacts their overall well-being.

Your Many Faces: The First Step to Being Loved

The workshop, led by Kobie Allison and the Modern Minds team, included a one-hour self-discovery session and an hour of networking with like-minded individuals, complemented by refreshments and sweet treats.

Kobie Allison kicked off the event by leading us into a mindful discussion about parts of self. Kobie spoke about the importance of recognising and embracing all parts of self, even the ones we might shy away from or feel disconnected to. All parts serve a purpose, including the friend, the parent, the child, the angry one, the happy one, the sad one, the destructive one, etc.

Throughout Kobie's mindfulness session, we were able to observe these parts without criticism - investigating how to understand their roles and learn to balance them with compassion and awareness.

Danielle, a Modern Minds Counsellor used an art therapy exercise to help us discover more about our emotions. She explained that emotions originate in the unconscious mind and the feelings connected to these emotions are the interpretations of our unconscious emotions. Danielle explained how we feel feelings consciously, but often overlook how our life experiences have led to our personal interpretations of our emotions. In this session, we used paper and pencil to draw our emotions, which allowed us to reflect on specific emotions with curiosity, instead of categorising them as 'good' or 'bad'. This allowed us to embrace our emotions and question some of the feelings we typically attach to them.

Alissa, a Modern Minds Student Counsellor spoke about how to set boundaries with people who are unaligned with your values and how to surround yourself with people who bring out your best self. She spoke about how different parts of self come to light when we're with different people. Knowing this, we spoke about how important it is to pay attention if you are regularly leaving certain friends, relationships, family members, jobs or professional partnerships feeling unsettled, insecure, depleted or unhappy. She walked us through 3 questions to ask yourself if you're feeling unsettled within a friendship or partnership and gave us tips about how to shift these relationships for the better.

If you didn't get the chance to come along to the event, it's not too late to purchase the recording of the three speaking sessions - just email kobie@modernminds.com.au for information about how to purchase the content from these sessions.
