At Modern Minds, we are committed to serving the community. We offer Medicare rebates and are a registered provider with the major health insurance providers.
We have also introduced Session Packs for selected counselling and nutritional medicine sessions. These are available at a discounted rate, to help provide more people with access. Learn more about Session Packs here.
Fees
Psychologists
The fee for a Modern Minds Psychologist session is $300.
For a session with Kobie Allison the fee is $340.
If you have a referral from your GP or Mental Health Care Plan you will receive a rebate of $93.35 which equates to a gap fee of $186.65.
Psychologists are more likely to work with clients who have severe or complex mental health issues. A psychologist holds a doctoral degree in psychology and are trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. Because of this, fees to see a psychologist are typically higher than a counsellor.

Each consultation is 50-minutes in duration.
As a practice with general registration according to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), clients receiving care under the Better Access Initiative will be eligible to receive a rebate for their Psychologist appointments.
Counsellors
The fee for a Modern Minds Senior Counsellor session is $270.
The fee for a Modern Minds Junior Counsellor session is $190.
Medicare does not provide a rebate for Counselling. Some of our counsellors can offer private healthcare rebates. Contact us for more details.
Counsellors focus on helping clients to cope with emotional issues, make important life decisions, and develop healthy relationships. A counsellor typically holds a master's degree in counselling, or a related field, and are trained to provide therapy and support to individuals, couples, and families.

Each session is 50-minutes in duration.
Initial sessions with a counsellor spend time establishing rapport so that you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences and background. Your practitioner will work to understand your needs and goals, to best help empower you. Subsequent sessions follow a similar trajectory building on the clients goals.
Clinical Nutritionist
The initial consultation is $270. Subsequent sessions are $220.
You may be able to claim a rebate through your private health insurance.

Each consultation is 50-minutes in duration.
An initial consultation with our Dietitian gives you a treatment plan specific to your health condition and health goals. It includes a 7 day meal plan complete with recipes, a prescription for nutraceuticals or supplements if necessary, further testing if needed, plus lifestyle recommendations to reach your health goals or improve your condition.

Couples Counselling
The fee for a Couples Counselling session is $330.

FAQs
Do you take a booking deposit?
When booking an appointment online or with our administration team, a $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your booking. Should you need to cancel, this deposit can be credited for another session, or any other service offered at Modern Minds. This ensures your space is held for you at Modern Minds.
What are your Methods of Payment?
Accepted methods of payment for all appointments include: Bankcard, Visa, and Mastercard. Please note that Modern Minds does not accept American Express or Diners, and cash for payment. No cash is held on premise at Modern Minds. Modern Minds utilises a billing software called Stripe to take payment. Your card details are saved securely to reduce your time in making multiple payments. This system we find increases the speed that we can then process your rebate. Payments are processed via Stripe the day before your appointment, so that we can action the Medicare rebate to you the day of and to ensure organisation etc.
Can I claim through my appointment cost through Medicare?
All Psychologists at Modern Minds are registered Medicare Psychology providers. In order to claim a rebate under Better Access Initiative (Medicare) you will need to make an appointment with your General Practitioner who will conduct an assessment. If you meet the relevant criteria (see attached) your General Practitioner will complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) under the Better Access Initiative, which can provide access to a rebate for approximately ten Psychology sessions within one calendar year. If you are claiming a rebate under the Better Access Initiative we are required to provide a report to your General Practitioner at session six and ten. This report only contains general information as well as any questionnaires completed and recommendations for future care. Please arrange for this plan to be faxed or emailed to Modern Minds prior to your initial appointment in order to obtain your rebate in a timely manner. We are a paperless office for privacy purposes. Following your bill being paid in full we will then submit your claim to Medicare for your rebate on the day following your visit.
Can I claim through my appointment cost through Private Health?
Modern Minds is a registered provider with the major health care funds. With private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim partial costs of the consultation fee. You will need to claim independently from for private claims. Please note: You can only claim through Medicare or Private Health Insurance for each session. It is illegal to claim from both at the same time.
What is your cancellation policy?
At Modern Minds we have a strict cancellation policy. If you are unable to keep an appointment, Modern Minds requires 48-hours notice. This is as a courtesy to your practitioner and other clients who are waiting and may require care. For more information, please see our Cancellation Policy here.
